However, sight-threatening complications that involve the posterior segment can occur. The complication rate after cataract surgery is relatively low, but it is important to recognize these complications early and treat them appropriately. In this presentattion, I will review the major posterior segment complications of cataract surgery, such as retained lens fragments, postoperative endophthalmitis, pseudophakic retinal detachment, and cystoid macular edema.
