Prof.Filomena RIBEIRO Portugal

Prof. Filomena Ribeiro, is President of the European Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons (ESCRS) and a leading expert in anterior segment surgery, ophthalmic innovation, and medical education. She is Head of the Department of Ophthalmology at Hospital da Luz Lisboa and holds a PhD in Biomedical Engineering, combining her clinical and scientific expertise to advance ophthalmic research and innovation. She holds faculty appointments as Professor of Ophthalmology and Biomedical Engineering at the University of Lisbon, and Professor of Ophthalmology at Universidade Católica Portuguesa (Católica Medical School) in Lisbon. Prof. Ribeiro also serves as an investigator with the Vision Group of Learning Health – Luz Saúde, as well as at the Visual Sciences Research Centre of the University of Lisbon and the Group of Lasers and Plasmas (GoLP) at Instituto Superior Técnico, University of Lisbon. She is Editor of the Journal of Clinical and Refractive Ophthalmology (JCRO) and has authored numerous publications in the fields of cataract and refractive surgery, intraocular lens technologies, and translational ophthalmic research.
