Pr. Wei-Li Chen earned her MD and PhD degrees from National Taiwan University and completed corneal fellowship training at National Taiwan University Hospital, where she currently serves as Professor and Director of the Department of Ophthalmology. She is also a joint-appointed Professor at the Graduate Institute of Clinical Medicine, College of Medicine, National Taiwan University. Dr. Chen conducted research at Harvard University’s Schepens Eye Research Institute and was an invited Assistant Professor at the University of Cincinnati. She leads the Advanced Ocular Surface and Corneal Nerve Research Center, focusing on corneal nerve analysis, regeneration, imaging, and translational applications.
Pr. Chen has published over 100 SCI-indexed articles on laser refractive surgery, corneal diseases, regenerative medicine, corneal biomaterials, nerve regeneration, and optical diagnostic technologies. She has received more than 20 research awards, including two National Innovation Awards (2022). As an active leader in ophthalmic societies, she serves as Chairperson of the Education Committee in the Taiwan Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons (TSCRS) and mentors numerous graduate students and clinical specialists in laser refractive surgery.
Beyond her medical and academic achievements, Pr. Chen is an award-winning writer and columnist for leading business management magazines in Taiwan. She recently earned her EMBA degree from National Taiwan University, with her thesis focusing on digital transformation and AI applications in ophthalmology.
