Dr. Tzu-Hsun Tsai is an Associate Professor of Ophthalmology at the College of Medicine, National Taiwan University. After earning her medical degree from National Taiwan University, she completed her ophthalmology residency and fellowship in Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus at National Taiwan University Hospital. She further pursued an additional year of fellowship in Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus at the Jules Stein Eye Institute, UCLA, USA. Additionally, she studied vision science at the Infant Vision Lab in The Smith-Kettlewell Eye Research Institute, San Francisco, and completed an observership at Children’s Hospital Boston, Harvard Medical School, USA. Dr. Tsai received her PhD from the Graduate Institute of Clinical Medicine at National Taiwan University College of Medicine in 2018.
Dr. Tsai is a member of the Taiwan Ophthalmology Society (TOS), the American Association for Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus, and the Asia-Pacific Strabismus and Pediatric Ophthalmology Society. Her research interests include strabismus, pediatric cataract, myopia, and vision science. Her research has been recognized with several awards, including the 2007 Travellers’ Fellowship Award from Asia ARVO, Singapore; the 2010 Excellence in Research Award from the Jules Stein Eye Institute, UCLA; the 2012, 2020, and 2022 Alcon Research Award from The Ophthalmological Society of Taiwan; the 2017 Achievement Award from the Asia-Pacific Academy of Ophthalmology (APAO); and the Bronze Medal Award in the Academic Development Mentorship Scheme of AAPPO (Academy of Asia-Pacific Professors of Ophthalmology) for 2020-2021. She is also a recipient of the Excellence in Teaching Award, excellent attending physician at National Taiwan University Hospital in 2004 and 2022.
