Dr. Fei Li, MD, PhD, is an Associate Professor at Zhongshan Ophthalmic Center, Sun Yat-sen University, China. His research bridges AI, big data, ocular imaging, and gene therapy development for glaucoma. Recognized among the world’s top 2% scientists in ophthalmology, Dr. Li has published over 50 SCI papers, including 20 in top medical and ophthalmology journals. He has received numerous honors such as the APAO Nakajima Award (2025), the APAO Achievement Award (2024), and APAO Best Scientific Paper Award (2024). Dr. Li serves on the editorial board of the Asia-Pacific Journal of Ophthalmology and reviews for leading journals including Lancet Digital Health, Science Advances, Ophthalmology, JAMA Ophthalmology, etc. His pioneering work includes developing multimodal deep learning systems for glaucoma detection and CRISPR-based gene therapy approaches. Dr. Li has delivered invited lectures at major conferences, sharing insights on AI applications, high myopia, and glaucoma management. In addition, he holds several patents related to ocular imaging and AI technologies. Through his interdisciplinary work, Dr. Li is advancing precision diagnostics and novel therapeutic approaches for glaucoma and other sight-threatening conditions.
