He is one of the most important retina surgeons in China, and the pioneer in combined phaco and vitrectomy surgery. He has made great efforts to promote the state of art vitreoretinal surgery in China and Asia-Pacific regions. With the great passion, he has been working very hard to explore pediatric retinal surgery and has become one of the leading pediatric retina surgeons in China. He has been one of the mostly invited Chinese speakers by different international ophthalmic meetings (VAIL Vitrectomy, FLORetina, FUJI Retina, EURETINA, Retina World Congress etc). He has been involved in a number of medical missions throughout African, Asian and Caribbean countries to provide free eye surgeries.
