Prof.Marcus Ang
Associate Professor, Dr Marcus Ang, MBBS, MMED, MCI, FRCS, PhD is Senior Consultant Ophthalmologist & Head of the Cornea and External Eye Disease Service; & Head of Refractive Service, Singapore National Eye Center (SNEC). He has currently more than 250 peer-reviewed publications (H-index=64), majority of which are first or corresponding author with JIF>2.0, focusing on translational research. He has published important peer-reviewed articles in the LANCET (IF: 202.7), LANCET Digital Health (IF: 36.615), PRER (IF: 19.7), Nature Digital Medicine (IF: 15.36), and Ophthalmology (12.08); and numerous book chapters, including several in the seminal textbook CORNEA. He has more than 20 Academic Awards, >$5M of competitive research grant funding, and filed 5 patents with 1 licensed for commercial development. He is a regular invited speaker at international conferences recognized by his international awards such as the APAO Achievement Award (2018) and AAO Achievement Award (2019). He has been commended with the President’s Award for Philanthropy in Singapore (2017), and Outstanding Service in the Prevention of Blindness Award from APAO (2019). A/Prof Ang is the current President of the Singapore Society of Ophthalmology. He was recognised with the AAO Secretariat Award in 2021 for his contributions to society work. His contributions and achievements in Ophthalmology have led to him being awarded the Artemis Award from the American Academy of Ophthalmology in 2019 and Vision Excellence Award (IAPB) in 2020. He has been recognized as one of the Top 100 Ophthalmologists (Global, The Power List 2023 and 2024) and Top 100 Ophthalmologists in the Asia Pacific by the APAO in 2023-2025.
